Trailers

I don't have a photo, but here in Portland I've seen more and more people riding bicycles that are towing trailers filled with stuff. Some of these look like they may be converted baby strollers or something. But it seems cargo capacity is becoming important. I expect to see bicycles with sidecars too.

Just to be particular, for this Award, I am looking for distinctly jerry-rigged kind of bike carriers that anyone can do on a shoestring (well, something stronger maybe but you get the gist...). Trailers are great, my sister traveled all round Britain with her worldly good in tow like that, and round here, one or two kids in those trailers is not a totally unusual sight, and yes, I think we'll see side-'cars' soon enough.

When my kids were little I had one of those old French (were they cast iron??!!) butcher's bikes with this veritable strongbox set on the front, an integral part of the frame. It was a tank. I did carry both my kids around that way and was spotted once cycling home with a yard sale ironing board under my arm to boot. So, okay, don't be dangerous but be highly inventive with what you might rustle up is all I'm saying.

Those are a couple of websites that will get y'all thinking about cargo trailers. I am in the process of making one and now that school is out for the summer it should be done soon. I contacted the customer rep guy on the site www.itemsuppliers.com and asked about the sneakers they sell. He said they are located in china and the reason why they sell the brand fashion bags from prices ranging $25 - $30 is because they get it straight from the factory and shipping is free because of some type of reason that they dont pay some tax ****... do you think its a deal or no deal!!! I donot know how to do about it . give me some comments!
